ARAM: Mayhem brings augment-fueled chaos to the bridge
A new twist on the classic ARAM mode is arriving with ARAM: Mayhem, a 5v5 mode that introduces augments to the mix. Players can expect larger snowballs, multiple flashes for ultimate plays, and ultimates that reset all ability cooldowns. Inspired in part by Wild Rift’s Arena mode, ARAM: Mayhem allows every champion to explore combinations and fantasies they don’t normally experience.
This new mode will launch with patch 25.21, and a regular ARAM queue will remain active for purists who prefer the standard gameplay. Additionally, map rotations from Season 2, including Koeshin’s Crossing and Butcher’s Bridge, will become permanent based on community feedback. Riot is also working on map performance improvements that began in patch 25.19 and will continue across upcoming patches.
Anti-smurfing measures and account linking
Riot devs provided an update on tackling smurfing, boosting, hitchhiking, and purchased accounts. Since patch 25.18, over 400,000 accounts used in Ranked, 1.5 million botted accounts, and 2.5 million accounts awaiting sale have been banned. Accuracy is reportedly over 99% for over 10,000 cases, with manual review ensuring fairness.
Looking forward, Riot will implement account linking to connect alt accounts to a main account. This system uses Vanguard, account, and behavioral data to apply penalties consistently across linked accounts. Starting with patch 25.23, punishments for griefing or negative behavior will carry over between accounts that are confirmed to belong to the same player, preventing exploitation of second chances.
Streamer mode updates
Streamer mode is receiving significant upgrades in patch 25.20 to protect player identities. Three new options will be available:
- Hide Other Names – the existing functionality.
- Hide My Name – hides Riot ID and in-game name but not stats like champion mastery or ranked borders.
- Hide My Everything – fully hides all identifying information from lobby to end of game.
These updates aim to protect pros, creators, and players from unwanted targeting and harassment.
Arcane anniversary celebrations
This November marks one year since Arcane’s finale. Riot will celebrate with online events, behind-the-scenes content, and the return of fan-favorite merch. For League players, patch 25.23 will bring:
- A free mini reward track with new icons and emotes.
- The return of all Arcane skins from Seasons 1 and 2.
- Updates to Arcane Fractured Jinx, including a spawn-in animation, new recalls for Shimmer and Powder, and unique chompers.
Riot also announced improvements to emote search functionality and the practice tool, allowing players to try any champion solo, starting in patch 25.21. Additional updates include the Blue Essence Emporium (patch 25.23) and Your Shop (patch 25.24).
Worlds 2025 play-in stage and Pick ‘Ems
The Worlds 2025 play-in stage begins October 14 in Beijing. Riot will add map accents to celebrate, and players are reminded to complete their Pick ‘Ems. A fun company bet is in place between devs, with the loser wearing an Amumu suit at a random company event.
Riot closed by thanking players for staying honorable on the Rift and encouraging everyone to enjoy their climbs while looking forward to 2026 updates.
