Relieved more than happy
For Labrov, winning his first LEC title after 15 splits in the league felt like a huge milestone. At the same time it was Caps’ 15th LEC title.
“I’m still feeling amazing and I’m very grateful. I wanted to bounce back after not a great year for me, and it feels amazing.”
Having lost two previous finals with G2 earlier in the year, he was determined to avoid the same outcome as both the Winter and Spring finals, where they lost to KC and MKOI respectively.
“Losing in a final feels horrible, especially when you are considered a favorite.
But this time it was not a loss for G2. Quite the opposite as they swept MKOI 3-0 in three rather convincing games. This final G2’s support tried to just focus on enjoying the game.
“This time I tried to just be present and enjoy the game. You don’t get to play finals very often, especially in front of a big crowd.”

The pressure of playing for G2
Labrov has experienced both ends of the standings in his career, from battling near the bottom with Vitality and BDS to now being expected to win with G2.
“In G2 you are expected to be first and win everything.”
And the pressure is something that Labrov had to get used to, because back in BDS and Vitality he was not expected to compete for anything.
At first, when I joined G2, that pressure got into my head a bit.
That shift in mindset helped him find confidence this summer and the hard work the team has put in really showed.
“We got a lot of lessons from MSI and Worlds, playing against the best teams and players. The process has been amazing, and it showed today.”
