Maybe the West isn’t so bad
While Viper and HLE haven’t played any Western teams at Worlds so far, there’s a chance he will in the playoffs, as G2 take on FlyQuest in the 2–1 bracket, which means one of the two teams is guaranteed a playoff spot.
And while the West hasn’t done too well in recent years, with EU not even making it out of the Swiss Stage the past two years, Viper still rates them.
“There’s always really good team in the west and you can’t underestimate them.
He even mentions G2 and FlyQuest specifically as teams to be wary of.
HLE Viper: “FlyQuest and G2 are teams where you can’t let your guard down”
The veteran ADC also sees things you can learn from Western teams.
“Something to really learn from them is that they don’t lose their color. They always try to develop and grow even stronger while maintaining their color.”

An aggressive opponent
The Cinderella story of Worlds 2025 so far has been CFO, starting the Swiss Stage 2–0 and almost qualifying for playoffs. With the loss to HLE they’re now 2–2, but they have earned a strong reputation for their aggressive playstyle.
Viper and HLE felt that today, as it was almost non-stop fighting in both games.
“It has been a while since we faced a team that aggressive, so it was really fun to play against them.”
HLE were on the back foot multiple times throughout the series, and they felt it. But it was the teamfights that ended up deciding the series, and there HLE were better.
“I felt the enemy had the edge and were on the right path to win, but in the end we were the better team and fought better when it mattered.”
Going into the series, CFO had been swapping their top laners, with both Driver and Rest playing at Worlds, and that was something HLE had to prepare for.
“We knew they often alternate top laners. From there, our process changed based on which top laner they fielded.”
In the end, it didn’t matter whether Rest or Driver played, as each lost a game in the series. Viper and HLE focused on teamfighting because they felt it would give them the advantage.
“In the end we focused on teamfighting, because we felt we would have the advantage there.”
Uncertain future
Viper is one of the best ADCs in the world, and not many teams would pass up the opportunity to sign him. As for what the future holds for the Korean star, whose contract is expiring, he still hasn’t decided.
“I want to make sure I focus on this Worlds to make sure have i as much fun as i can.”
While Viper kept his cards close to his chest, he did say he wants to be somewhere that makes him happy.
“I’ll choose the path that makes me happy.”
With HLE now in the playoffs, we’ll have to wait a little while to find out what’s next for Viper.
