After T1’s 3-1 series win over Dplus, Faker qualified for his tenth Worlds, setting a new all-time record for individual appearances.

To mark the milestone, we at LOLNOW.gg have compiled the top 10 players with the most Worlds appearances, including both active and retired pros.

Top 10 most Worlds appearances

  • 1. Sang-hyeok “Faker” Lee, T1 – 10
  • 2. Yi-Tang “Maple” Huang, PSG Talon – 9
  • 3. Rasmus “Caps” Winther, G2 Esports – 8
  • 4. Yong-in “CoreJJ” Jo, Team Liquid – 8
  • 5. Jae-hyuk “Ruler” Park, Gen.G – 8
  • 6. Eon-young “Impact” Jeong, Team Liquid – 8
  • 7. Yuan-Hao “Xiaohu” Li, Weibo Gaming – 8
  • 8. Hyuk-kyu “Deft” Kim, military service – 8
  • 9. Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, retired – 8
  • 10. Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen, retired – 8

Who can catch Faker?

The short answer is probably no one, unless the Unkillable Demon King retires or takes a break. If that ever happens, a few names could keep the race interesting.

Deft, Doublelift, and Jensen are parked on eight and, given retirement or military service, are unlikely to add more. Maple sits on nine and is closest to double digits, though his recent return from retirement makes his long-term availability unclear. CoreJJ, Impact, and Xiaohu are also on eight, but with Team Liquid’s struggles and the depth of the LPL, consistent Worlds qualification will be hard.

That leaves Caps and Ruler on eight, and they look the most likely to climb. Gen.G secured Worlds early by winning MSI, and G2 dominated summer, going 8-0 in the regular season before beating KC 3 to 1 to book their spot. If anyone can apply pressure to the record, it is those two.
