After sweeping Fnatic 2-0 in the LEC last night, Rasmus “Caps” Winther talked to Sjokz in the post-game check-in. The Danish mid laner shared his view on facing Yoon “Poby” Sung-Won and on what it is like meeting Fnatic on stage.
Mid lane duel set the tone
Going in, fans were eager to see the mid lane clash. Fnatic were 3-0 with only G2 left before playoffs, and Poby had impressed so far, but playing against Caps is never easy. Caps, often cited as the greatest mid laner in LEC history, said he was curious to see how Fnatic’s new midlaner would look.
“I was curious as well. I think he played well, especially in the second game on Annie in the laning phase.”
The margins when playing against G2 are small, so while Poby played well, he did also make his first major mistakes in the LEC. In game 2 he teleported straight into the whole G2 team and instantly died. From there, G2 tightened vision around mid and river, paired picks with objective setups, and closed out both games without giving Fnatic space to recover.

G2 welcomes the rivalry
G2 viewed Fnatic’s choice to enter their group as a direct challenge and leaned into it. As Caps put it, “We wanted to show them that even if they get a little bit of a lead, we still got them.” Even when Fnatic found a lead, G2’s response was clean and they dominated the mid-game in the series.
“Playing against Fnatic is always fun. I love this matchup, it’s a fun one and now with a new player as well it makes it more exciting,” Caps said.
For G2, the sweep is as much about standards as the scoreboard. “We have a lot of things to prove after a weak MSI and some bad performances in the last Finals,” Caps added. So far G2 have been proving themselves going 2-0 in LEC so far while not dropping a single game yet. G2 play their next game tonight, August 18th against BDS.
