When it comes to rivalries in League of Legends, few are as intense or legendary as Faker vs Chovy. The greatest player of all time against the reigning MSI and EWC champion — Chovy also being one of the only players you can even mention in the same conversation as Faker.
On one side stood T1, Korea’s most iconic team, determined to reclaim their domestic crown. On the other, Gen.G, riding the momentum of their international dominance and aiming to solidify a dynasty of their own.
This was the match fans had circled for weeks, and it delivered.
Game 1: T1 Dominate Gen.G
T1 set the tone early with clean execution and sharp map control. Faker’s performance on Ryze led the charge, while Keria dominated on his signature Bard. The early game was dominated by T1 and a decisive fight around drake furthered their lead. After a disastrous Atakhan fight for Gen.G, T1 closed out the game in 32 minutes to secure the 1-0 lead.
Game 2: Ruler’s Yunara dominate the teamfights
Facing elimination, Gen.G bounced back. T1 took early control of the botlane through Gumayusi’s Lucian, putting pressure on Ruler’s Yunara. Gen.G fought back and earned themself a decent lead in both kills and gold spearheaded by Canyon’s Xin Zhao. Despite a mid-game attempt at a comeback from T1, Gen.G sealed the game after a big fight in the top river, securing them Baron and eventually closing out the game in 30 minutes to even the series 1-1.
Game 3: Chovy outmatch Faker in the midlane
With the series tied, everything came down to a game 3. Tension ran high as Canyon got a terrible start to the game on Vi and was 2 levels down to Oner’s Nocturne just 6 minutes in. Gen.G however gained the upper hand through great skirmishing and cleaner execution granting them a decent lead in the mid-game. Throughout game 3 Chovy’s Corki dominated the mid lane matchup versus Faker’s Sylas and secured the game and series victory in 27 minutes.
