LOLNOW.gg caught up with Movistar KOI support Álvaro “Alvaro” Fernández del Amo after the team’s 3-2 win over Fnatic. The result booked their ticket to Worlds in China and secured a spot at the LEC Finals in Madrid. Next up is the upper bracket final against G2, with a direct place in the grand final on the line.

A mixed bag
Alvaro left the series against Fnatic balancing pride and frustration. He is thrilled to reach Worlds, yet candid about the mistakes that dragged game four off course.
“I’m happy we’re going to China and Worlds, but I’m not happy with my performance today.”
He pointed to a single moment in game four as the swing.
“Game four I kind of inted. One mistake at third drake snowballed the game. If I don’t make that mistake, the game becomes much easier.”
Still, MKOI trusted their late-series resilience.
“We have never lost a game five, so we were confident and wanted to enjoy it.”

Fearless draft and what’s next
The Spanish support enjoys the creativity of Fearless Draft, while noting how brutal it becomes on map five, especially when some champions can be flexed into other roles.
“Fearless Draft is cool for fans and players, but game five drafting gets complicated and rewards big champion pools.”
Next up for MKOI is G2, a matchup he welcomes. G2 are undefeated in series so far this split, dropping only a single game to KCorp in their 3-1 win, which secured them a Worlds berth.
“G2 are the strongest team in the league, and I’m hyped to play them.”
While Europe as a region has disappointed at international events over the last couple of years, he believes MKOI can grow into a real threat at Worlds.
“If we keep emotions and ego in check, we are going to be a strong contender [for Worlds]”
