LoL Patch 25.24 is the final patch of 2025. It’s not a full meta reset, but it still matters: there’s a 12/16/2025 mid-patch balance pass, ranked season deadlines, WASD controls rolling out in limited queues, plus a chunky batch of Arena and ARAM Mayhem updates.
LoL patch 25.24 quick summary
If you only read one section, read this:
- Mid-patch (12/16/2025) trims top performers (mostly jungle + high-agency picks), with a few targeted buffs.
- Ranked Season 3 (2025) ends 2026-01-07 23:59:59 (local server time). Season 1 (2026) begins 2026-01-08 12:00:00 (local server time).
- WASD rolls out to matchmade games except Draft and Ranked (with a gradual region rollout). Briar and Taliyah are temporarily disabled for WASD.

12/16/2025 mid-patch updates
This is the “one more balance pass” to close out the year. It mostly trims power from the top performers, with a few targeted buffs to underperformers.
| Champion | Change | Quick impact | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aatrox | Nerf (jungle) | Slower first clear | |
| Ambessa | Adjust / nerf | Less late burst vs squishies | |
| Lux | Buff | More payoff for landing Q | |
| Miss Fortune | Nerf | More punishable | |
| Qiyana | Nerf (jungle) | Clear speed down | |
| Sylas | Nerf (jungle) | Less monster damage | |
| Tahm Kench | Buff | Stronger top trading | |
| Volibear | Buff | AD builds benefit | |
| Zaahen | Nerf | Less lane control + weaker scaling |
Mid-patch champion changes

Aatrox (jungle)
What it means: Aatrox jungle still works, but the first clear is less “free.” Expect tighter timers and more punishment if you take inefficient routes.

Q – The Darkin Blade
- Minimum Bonus Monster Damage: 40 ⇒ 15

Ambessa
What it means: This is aimed at reducing her “suffocating” agency in high-skill lobbies—especially late-game burst into squishies—without deleting her ability to fight durable targets.

Passive – Drakehound’s Step
- Damage ratio: (+30% bonus AD) ⇒ (+25% bonus AD)

E – Lacerate
- Damage ratio: (+40/45/50/55/60% bonus AD) ⇒ (+50% bonus AD)

Lux
What it means: Mid Lux gets paid harder for landing Q—exactly the kind of buff that rewards accuracy without turning her into a stat check.

Passive – Illumination
- AP Ratio: (+30% AP) ⇒ (+35% AP)

Q – Light Binding
- AP Ratio: (+65% AP) ⇒ (+75% AP)

Miss Fortune
What it means: MF still dominates grouped fights when protected, but she’s easier to punish before and after the ult window. Positioning matters more.
Base stats
- Base health: 640 ⇒ 625
- Health growth: 103 ⇒ 100

Qiyana (jungle)
What it means: Slower clear and less tempo control. If you were getting away with greedy invades off a blazing first cycle, it’s riskier now.

Q – Edge of Ixtal / Elemental Wrath
- Monster Damage: 1.75x ⇒ 1.55x

Sylas (jungle)
What it means: Mid Sylas is intentionally protected here. Jungle Sylas loses some of the “clear + out-duel anyway” power that was making him too consistent.

Passive – Petricite Burst
- Monster Damage: 1.3x ⇒ 1.15x

Tahm Kench
What it means: A clean top-lane leaning buff: the more health you buy, the more your trades actually hurt.

Passive – An Acquired Taste
- Damage ratio: (+4% bonus HP) ⇒ (+4.5% bonus HP)

Volibear
What it means: AD Voli gets a clearer identity boost. Bruiser builds are the big winners.

W – Frenzied Maul
- Damage ratio: (+100% AD) ⇒ (+110% AD)

Zaahen
What it means: This hits both lane control (holding Q) and scaling (ratios). Zaahen still rewards mastery, but he’s no longer the default “best answer” once mastered.

Q – The Darkin Glaive
- Hold/Recast Duration: 5s ⇒ 4s
- Q1 no longer heals when hitting wards, plants, or structures
- Q1 Bonus Damage Ratio: (+20/30/40/50/60% bonus AD) ⇒ (+20/25/30/35/40% bonus AD)
- Q2 Bonus Damage Ratio: (+20/30/40/50/60% bonus AD) ⇒ (+20/25/30/35/40% bonus AD)

E – Aureate Rush
- Outer Ring Bonus Damage Ratio: (+100% bonus AD) ⇒ (+75% bonus AD)
Season 3 ranked ending soon (important dates)
Ranked timing is the big practical part of this patch cycle:
- Ranked Season 3 (2025) ends: 2026-01-07 23:59:59 (local server time)
- Ranked queues disabled: ~12 hours (season prep)
- Season 1 (2026) begins: 2026-01-08 12:00:00 (noon, local server time)
- Rewards noted: Victorious Draven skin + chromas, plus seasonal accessories (distributed in patch 26.1)
WASD launches in limited queues
WASD goes live in matchmade games except Draft and Ranked, with a gradual region rollout. Some non-standard queues (like Co-op vs AI, Practice Tool, and Tutorial) are not supported.
- Enabled: Most matchmade modes including Swiftplay, ARAM, Arena, and ARAM Mayhem (where available)
- Not enabled: Draft & Ranked queues
- Temporarily disabled (25.24): Briar and Taliyah
- Extra features: Dynamic Camera, Scout Ahead (middle mouse), WASD remapping
Champion select updates
- You can no longer ban champions hovered by your teammates.
- Champ select speed improvements are being rolled out globally.
Champion changes
Below are the main champion changes. The goal here is not to memorize numbers—it’s to understand what gets stronger/weaker and why, so you can predict meta movement.
| Champion | Type | Core change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Braum | Buff | More early durability + stronger extended fights | |
| Dr. Mundo | Nerf (jungle) | Lower Q monster damage cap | |
| Kayn | Nerf (blue) | Less assassin passive damage | |
| Kha’Zix | Nerf | Lower W base damage (tempo down) | |
| Master Yi | Nerf | Less durability + weaker scaling | |
| Mel | Nerf | E is less punishing / sticky | |
| Nasus | Buff | More health + higher Q base damage | |
| Nidalee | Bugfix | Spear bonus damage now behaves as intended | |
| Sejuani | Buff | Lower cooldowns + AP ratios up | |
| Swain | Buff | More consistent healing per fragment | |
| Viktor | Buff | Bigger Q shield + bugfixes | |
| Zaahen | Adjust | Micropatch history + follow-up tuning | |
| Zed | Nerf (jungle) | Slower early clear |
Note: The per-champion breakdown below uses a stable Gutenberg pattern: champion block → base stats (no image) → ability blocks (with official ability icons).

Braum
Why it matters: Braum lanes where you want to actually fight (instead of just peeling) get a boost. If you’re already good at tracking passive stacks, you’ll feel this immediately.
Base stats
- Base health: 610 ⇒ 630

Passive – Concussive Blows
- Damage on follow-up attacks: 20% ⇒ 40%

Dr. Mundo (jungle)
Why it matters: Top Mundo stays healthier as intended, while Jungle Mundo loses some speed and safety. This is the classic “bring roles closer to parity” tuning.

Q – Infected Bonesaw
- Monster Damage Cap: 350/425/500/575/650 ⇒ 300/375/450/525/600

Kayn (Shadow Assassin)
Why it matters: Blue Kayn’s “poke then delete” patterns get toned down, especially the frustrating fog-of-war setups. Rhaast avoids most of the splash damage.

Passive – The Darkin Scythe
- Bonus post-mitigation magic damage: 25–45% ⇒ 20–40%

Kha’Zix
Why it matters: Less early AoE means slower clears and slightly less “always first to invade” tempo. Isolation kills are still the identity.

W – Void Spike
- Base damage: 85/115/145/175/205 ⇒ 75/105/135/165/195

Master Yi
Why it matters: This hits early survivability and late scaling. Yi still snowballs when ahead, but mistakes cost more.
Base stats
- Base health: 655 ⇒ 640
- Attack damage growth: 2.8 ⇒ 2.5

Mel
Why it matters: The direction is clear: keep Mel viable for mains, but reduce the “inescapable” feeling for everyone else. The mana ramp forces cleaner spell usage.

E – Solar Snare
- Orb magic damage: 60/105/150/195/240 ⇒ 60/100/140/180/220
- Magic damage per second: 16/32/48/64/80 ⇒ 16/26/36/46/56
- Lingering debuff duration: 0.75 ⇒ 0.5 seconds
- Mana cost: 50/55/60/65/70 ⇒ 50/60/70/80/90

Nasus
Why it matters: A quiet but meaningful laning buff. More health reduces “getting bullied off stacks,” and the Q base bump makes missed breakpoints less painful.
Base stats
- Base health: 631 ⇒ 650

Q – Siphoning Strike
- Base damage: 35/55/75/95/115 ⇒ 40/60/80/100/120

Nidalee (bugfix)
Why it matters: Bugfixes can swing win rate without any “nerf” label. This removes unintended bonus damage in the lower range band.

Q – Javelin Toss
- Bonus damage beyond 525 range: 30–125% ⇒ 0–125% (damage below 525 range unaffected)

Sejuani
Why it matters: She can press buttons more often, and the AP ratio buffs add real spice for off-builds.

Q – Arctic Assault
- Cooldown: 19/17.5/16/14.5/13 ⇒ 18/16.5/15/13.5/12
- Mana cost: 70/75/80/85/90 ⇒ 60/65/70/75/80
- AP ratio: 60% ⇒ 75%

W – Winter’s Wrath
- Mana cost: 65 ⇒ 60
- First hit AP ratio: 20% ⇒ 30%

E – Permafrost
- AP ratio: 60% ⇒ 70%

R – Glacial Prison
- Cooldown: 130/110/90 ⇒ 120/105/90

Swain
Why it matters: This smooths out Swain’s power curve. You’re less dependent on hitting a specific level to feel like your passive does something.

Passive – Ravenous Flock
- Heal per fragment: 3–6% (based on level) ⇒ 6%

Viktor
Why it matters: Viktor wants mid-range trades, and this buff helps him survive the “step up to hit Q” moments. The AP ratio bump is huge once items come online.

Q – Siphon Power
- Shield: 40–115 (based on level) (+18% AP) ⇒ 40–140 (based on level) (+25% AP)
- Bugfix: Fixed Viktor bot shield calculation
- Bugfix: Fixed Q tooltip AP ratio inaccuracies

Zaahen (micropatch history + follow-up)
Why it matters: Release was too strong, so Riot steps down damage carefully and then tightens high-skill scaling. There’s also a small jungle compensation bump.
- Passive – Cultivation of War (25.23): Bonus AD per stack 1.5–3.3 (based on level) ⇒ 1.5–2.8
- Q – The Darkin Glaive (25.23): AD ratio 30/40/50/60/70% bonus AD ⇒ 20/30/40/50/60%
- Q – The Darkin Glaive (25.23): Second cast base damage 30/60/90/120/150 ⇒ 25/50/75/100/125
- Q – The Darkin Glaive (25.24): Cooldown 9/8/7/6/5 ⇒ 10/9/8/7/6
- Q – The Darkin Glaive (25.24): Monster damage modifier 50% ⇒ 75%
- E – Aureate Rush (25.24): Sweet spot damage 4/5/6/7/8% ⇒ 4/4.5/5/5.5/6%

Zed (jungle)
Why it matters: This is the “clear speed tax.” Zed still has his identity, but the window where he full-clears into invade/Scuttle fights gets narrower.

Passive – Contempt for the Weak
- Damage to monsters: 2x ⇒ 1.8x
Rune changes
Legend: Bloodline
- Life steal per stack: 0.4% ⇒ 0.45%
- Maximum life steal: 6% ⇒ 6.75%
What it means: Bloodline is being pushed into “competitive” territory. If you want scaling sustain without rushing lifesteal items, it’s more attractive now.
Arena updates
Holiday patch energy: buffs to under-loved pieces, and trims where things got out of hand.
Arena champion changes
- Azir: W recharge 12–6 ⇒ 10–6 seconds
- Milio: P burn 10–50 ⇒ 20–100; Q cooldown 10 ⇒ 8; R base healing 150–350 ⇒ 200–500
- Trundle: Q removed Arena mods; R removed Arena mods for resistance shred
- Ambessa: Q cooldown 14–10 ⇒ 16–12 seconds
- Zyra: plant damage AP ratio 0.2 ⇒ 0.15
- Bel’Veth: R on-hit mod 8/11/14 ⇒ 6/8/10
Arena item changes
- Shardholder: max stat shard amp 80% ⇒ 50%
- Crown of the Shattered Queen: health 300 ⇒ 350; shield 40% ⇒ 50%
- Everfrost: base damage 250 ⇒ 300
- Fulmination: current health damage 10% ⇒ 13%
- Hemomancer’s Helm: attack damage 60 ⇒ 70
- Hexbolt: bolt damage 20–60 ⇒ 50–100
- Kinkou Jitte: adaptive force 70 ⇒ 85; minimum move speed 30% ⇒ 50%
- Radiant Virtue: health per tick 2.5 ⇒ 3%
- Twilight’s Edge: bonus AD/AP 20% ⇒ 25%
- Twin Mask: solo stats 15% ⇒ 20%; double stats 30% ⇒ 35%
- Reality Fracture: cooldown 15 ⇒ 12 seconds
- Decapitator: move speed 6% ⇒ 8%
- Demon King’s Crown: amp on round win 1% ⇒ 1.2%
- Stattikk Shiv: bounce AP ratio 45% ⇒ 25%

Frequently asked questions about LoL Patch 25.24
When does ranked reset for 2026?
Season 3 (2025) ends 2026-01-07 23:59:59 local server time. Season 1 (2026) begins 2026-01-08 12:00:00 local server time, after a short ranked queue downtime.
What time does Patch 25.24 go live?
Patch rollout timing depends on your region and Riot’s maintenance window. Most regions update during scheduled maintenance, and you may see a short period where matchmaking or ranked queues are unavailable.
Is WASD enabled in ranked or draft pick?
No. For Patch 25.24, WASD is rolling out in matchmade games except Draft and Ranked. Riot is testing it in selected modes first, with a gradual region rollout.
Which champions were changed in the 12/16/2025 mid-patch update?
The 12/16/2025 mid-patch targets Aatrox (jungle), Ambessa, Lux, Miss Fortune, Qiyana (jungle), Sylas (jungle), Tahm Kench, Volibear, and Zaahen.
What are the biggest Arena changes in Patch 25.24?
Arena gets a mix of champion tuning (including Azir, Milio, Trundle, Ambessa, Zyra, and Bel’Veth) and prismatic item adjustments. If you play Arena regularly, the item changes are likely the biggest “feel” shift, especially for builds relying on high amplification or repeated procs.
What’s new in ARAM Mayhem in Patch 25.24?
ARAM Mayhem adds new augments (including Earthwake, Orbital Laser, Trueshot Prodigy, and Stackosaurus Rex), reworks Ultimate Awakening, and introduces new items like Hextech Gunblade. There are also system tweaks (like crit overflow conversion) and a small set of bugfixes/QoL updates.
