League of Legends: Upcoming Changes to Champion Mastery Icons and Honor System

Riot Games has recently unveiled previews of the updated Champion Mastery icons and a revamped honor system in League of Legends. These updates aim to modernize the game’s visuals while enhancing the way players can recognize positive behavior, both in their teammates and opponents.

Updated Champion Mastery Icons: A Fresh Look with Respect for Tradition

The new Champion Mastery icons are receiving a significant visual upgrade. Riot has worked to maintain the essence of the original icons that players love, while also modernizing them to fit the current design trends in the game. Although these icons are not yet finalized, they are close to completion, and the community is already responding positively. Alongside these visual updates, Riot is also reworking the sound effects associated with these mastery icons, ensuring a cohesive experience for players.

Revamped Honor System: Honoring More Players and Opponents

One of the most notable changes is coming to the Honor System. Since its last major update in 2017, the system has primarily been used to honor one teammate per game, often focusing on those who performed well rather than those who demonstrated exemplary behavior. Riot is now shifting the focus to truly honorable behavior rather than just rewarding players who excel in gameplay.

Starting in September, players will be able to honor multiple teammates per game, as well as opponents, making the system more inclusive. The update will allow players to honor up to four individuals per match, removing the old options like “Stay Cool” and “Great Shotcalling” in favor of a single, unified honor button—likely represented by a “GG” icon.

Enhanced Detection and Punishments for Toxic Behavior

Riot is also enhancing its efforts to combat toxic behavior such as trolling, AFK-ing, and chat abuse. The detection rate for disruptive behavior is currently at 70%, with a target of 95% through improvements to the Vanguard system. New triggers will be added, including detecting players who waste their ultimates or Summoner spells or engage in suspicious item purchasing patterns like buying multiple daggers. Additionally, players affected by trolls may receive rewards like ARAM rerolls, autofill protection, LP consolation, and XP boosts as compensation.

These changes reflect Riot’s ongoing commitment to fostering a positive and respectful community in League of Legends. For more details on upcoming updates and in-depth guides, be sure to check out the League of Legends official site.

Stay tuned for further updates as these changes roll out, and don’t forget to engage positively in your next match—you might just receive some extra honors for it!
